Why do I need this?

  • You can choose prepaid electricity denominations between N$50 and N$1000
  • Money is debited directly from your account
  • You can choose to purchase prepaid electricity via Cellphone Banking, Online Banking , FNB ATM, or the FNB Banking App

How do I receive a prepaid electricity voucher number?

After completing your transaction on FNB Cellphone Banking, you will receive a token number via SMS which can be entered on your meter in order to recharge your prepaid electricity account. Via Online Banking and the FNB Banking App you can go to prepaid history to view your tokens. At the FNB ATM the token will appear on the printout slip.

How do I know if my meter is supported?

  • FNB currently supports City of Windhoek, NoRED, CenoRED, Erongo RED and Rebohoth
  • The remainder of municipalities will be added at later stage

How do I purchase Prepaid Electricity?

How do I buy Prepaid Electricity using Online Banking?

  • Click on the Payments Tab
  • In the action bar, under Additional Services, click on Prepaid
  • The Prepaid Services sub tabs will be displayed
  • Select the Electricity sub tab
  • Select the account that you would like to use to make the purchase from the drop down list
  • Select a Recharge Value from the drop down list, alternatively, if you would like to purchase electricity for a value that is not on the drop down list, select Flexi Charge and then enter the required value in the Recharge Amount field
  • Enter you Meter Number
  • Click on Submit
  • A confirmation page will be displayed
  • Check that this information is correct and, if necessary, click on Edit to make amendments
  • Before you can continue you will be required to acknowledge that you have read the Disclaimer
  • Click on Confirm to proceed
  • The results of your request will be displayed
  • Take note of your token number as you will need to enter this on your meter in order to recharge your electricity meter

How do I buy Prepaid Electricity using Cellphone Banking?

  • Dial *140*321# on your mobile phone
  • The system will welcome you to FNB Cellphone Banking and ask you to select reply / answer on your Cellphone and key in your 5 digit Cellphone Banking PIN
  • The main menu is displayed
  • Select Prepaid
  • Select Recharge
  • Select Electricity
  • Select the account from which you wish to transact
  • Key in the meter number
  • Enter or select the electricity amount
  • The system displays a confirmation screen with the transaction details and will prompt you to confirm
  • The system will then indicate whether or not the transaction was successful
  • You will then receive a SMS indicating that the transaction was successful. The SMS will include: your recharge token number.

How do I buy Prepaid Electricity from an ATM?

  • Insert your ATM card and PIN
  • The system will display the Main Menu
  • Select "Buy It/Pay It"
  • The ATM will display 2 options and prompt you to select either Buy prepaid electricity or Reprint the last purchase receipt
  • The system will display the Terms and Conditions
  • If you are happy with the Terms & Conditions, select "Accept"
  • Select "Buy prepaid electricity"
  • The system will prompt you to enter a valid meter number
  • The system then displays a list of predefined amounts with an Own Amount option and will prompt you to enter/select an amount they wish to purchase for
  • Select / enter an amount
  • The system displays a list of accounts that you are able to purchase from and will prompt you to select an account
  • The system displays a confirmation screen with the transaction details and will prompt you to confirm
  • Confirms the transaction details
  • The system prints the receipt, which will include: your recharge token number

What happens if I have made an incorrect purchase?

  • The terms and conditions for this service state that FNB Namibia is not liable for incorrect purchases made by the customer
  • FNB Namibia includes a confirmation screen on your cellphone prior to you accepting your transaction. This confirmation screen contains the details of the transaction and is meant to ensure that you are happy with your transaction
  • Unfortunately we cannot reimburse you for the transaction
